A number of these products are now also being used as permanent primary power sources in developed and developing countries spanning 3 continents. In 2010 I was appointed as Sustainability Consultant for PAPA projects, developing and implementing the sustainability strategy for Lovebox Festival (UK) and achieving 2 star Industry Green certification for the event in that same year, one of only 2 large UK festivals to achieve this rating. I am a member of the UK Festival Power Providers Forum and consult on how to reduce UK festival reliance on fossil fuels and how to further integrate the use of renewable power. Dominique Betts

 Consultant Location: Manchester Years experience in sustainable event practice: 3 Website: www.sustainableeventsltd.com Email: dominique (at) sustainableeventsltd.com Details of experience: Having graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in Conference and Exhibitions management, I wrote my dissertation on the challenges and benefits of implementing sustainability within events venues. This involved 6 months of research and interviews with industry professionals. Much of my university studies have been dedicated to researching and learning about sustainability within the events industry. I currently work as a sustainability advisor, offering advice, support and education to event industry professionals. This includes helping clients to work through the British Standard for Sustainable Events Management (BS8901), including the creation of sustainability policies, objectives, targets and plans. I am also responsible for the development, sales and training of Event Sustainability, an online tool used for the measurement of the impacts of an event. My previous work experience lies within the hospitality and catering industry, where I have worked in the United Kingdom, Australia and Spain. Alex Hall

As a part time consultant for Sustainable Events, Alex acts as a guide and takes companies within the events sector though the processes required to make their operations more sustainable. He helped develop a structured approach to delivering consultancy on the British Standard for Sustainable Event Management (BS 8901) and was one of the first consultants in the country to guide an organization through to being successfully externally certified. Recently Alex assisted with measurement of the England F.A 2018 world cup bid’s footprint which fed into the first GRI report compiled by a bidding authority. Alex has presented internationally on the subject of event sustainability, GRI, BS 8901 and the future ISO 20121. Sustainable Events Ltd is a company providing support to businesses in the event industry who wish to implement and measure sustainability initiatives. My key skills for this role include, presenting, preparation and delivery, educational syllabus creation and destination specific programme development. I have delivered leading education internationally to a wide variety of event industry practitioners, including: Manchester City Council, EIBTM, GIBTM, MCE CEE, Aeris Futuro and IMEX. I have created the Leeds Metropolitan University and UK Centre for Event Management approved course ‘Sustainable Event Management’ and provided Positive Impact education which has received the London 2012 Inspire Mark.
