I am a sustainability specialist from Finland. I have been working in various sustainability projects in event industry since 2008 in UK and Finland. I am also one of the founders of Visia Cooperative, which provides sustainability consulting services for events, companies, public organizations and NGOs. I have been lucky to be part of many different kind of events; music festivals, sports events, conferences etc.
Latest new initiative that we created in Finland is Sustainable Meal concept, which helps event producers to manage sustainable catering and caterers to plan sustainable meals. It's sustainable and delicious!
Master’s degree in Corporate Environmental Management (University of Jyväskylä), including minor studies in environmental science and major studies in tourism.
List of events and projects worked on:
I have worked as a volunteer, Sustainability Assistant and Sustainability Coordinator in sustainability projects at Latitude, Reading, Leeds and Big Chill festivals in the UK.
I worked as a Project Planner and Project Coordinator at Greening Events project in Helsinki, Finland. The project lasted for 2,5 years and my duties included consulting and training event producers about sustainability issues and conducting local communications initiatives. The project piloted an environmental management system and environmental certification EcoCompass for events and event venues.
Currently I am working in EcoCompass Event project in Finland. The project aims to make EcoCompass Event system a nationally available product for event and implements the environmental management system for significant Finnish events and venues. During these projects I’ve worked with various events and venues, for example some of the biggest festivals in Finland Flow Festival, Ruisrock and Provinssi as well as major sports events like IFF Women’s World Floorball Championships 2015 and FIS World Ski Championships 2017 Lahti 2017.
