Each country of the world, and even region or province within a country has differing approaches to sustainable development. This degree of engagement in sustainable development, has an effect on how well events are likely to also be produced sustainably.
The way a country or region addresses resource conservation, biodiversity protection, labour practices, human rights, and waste management all come together to create the sustainability profile for a region.
Our country representatives and interns have researched this information, including aspects such as population, economic prosperity, agriculture and industry, so that the stage can be set for events and sustainability performance.
There is also information on the event industry and also the stage that country or region is at in addressing sustainability in event management.
We have representatives in both Western Europe and Eastern Europe. Western European countries have embraced the principles of Sustainable Development, particularly those in the North.
When it comes to Eastern Europe, due to the past of the region – being separated and influenced by various powers throughout the years, the Eastern European countries now suffer from relatively slower development when it comes to the Events Industry as well as embracing principles of Sustainable Development. Though many countries are trying to raise the national standards and move on.
We are currently searching for sub-coordinators in various European countries.
If you are involved with sustainable event management and wish to be involved in the alliance, please contact our European co-ordinator Magdalina Yarichkova on europe (at) sustainable-event-alliance.org
