Welcome to the Sustainable Event Alliance (SEA), an association which aims to inspire events, organizers, venues and supply chain to be as sustainable as possible and promote the western region of the United States as a sustainable event destination.
The west coast certainly loves its gatherings. Composed of California, Oregon, and Washington, the region is vastly diverse, with international cities such as San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, to the vast wilderness areas both along the coast and in the rugged interior, the western region of the United States is truly a land of its own. Although events throughout the region range from fairs to sports contests festivals of various kinds, one of the most unique types of events in the American West is the music and arts festival, which is truly a culture of its own with a plethora of representations produced throughout the spring and summer months. Combined with the indescribable beauty of the region, the West Coast of the United States is a national and global event destination.
Not only is it a highly sought-after event destination, but it is undoubtedly the premier sustainable event destination in the United States, and can certainly be considered a global leader in our gradual but crucial transformation toward a new paradigm focused on sustainability, equity, creativity, and positive progression. Accordingly, it is important that the events in the western United States remain on the cutting edge of environmental protection and improvement and social justice. With a lot already being done in the region, the SEA seeks to highlight those events and organizations that are making positive contributions, in hopes of inspiring and assisting all of those already involved in our common mission to help each other and in turn help us all.
In this transformative time of our incremental evolution, now is the perfect time to engage with the SEA. In 2012 and beyond, events, organizers, local entities, venues, and suppliers are invited to work together with the SEA to maintain and improve upon a sustainable event industry and showcase the USA West as a global sustainable event destination.
