I’ve always been an environmental and social justice activist. I love working on creative and challenging events. It’s been great becoming a “change agent” for the event industry, marrying my personal and professional passions. Plus, reducing waste, addressing risk, and increasing innovation are simply good business practices.
At the moment, I’m working with others on the SEA Leadership Team to “build back better”. We’re using this “pause” in events to focus on sustainability, and employ superior practices when events return.
In the summer of 2019, I worked on a large, private event in NYC. This event diverted 90% of waste from the landfill. Event materials were stored for next year, donated, or recycled/composted. Biodiesel used in generators, and of course, no single use water bottles!
