Green Tourism

Green Tourism
The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a national sustainable tourism certification scheme which has over 2000 members across the UK and Ireland. It aims to offer guidelines to tourism related organisations on making their operations sustainable whilst retaining a high quality service. Businesses are assed by qualified grading advisors against set criteria covering such areas as waste management, biodiversity, and energy and water efficiency. Bronze, silver and gold awards go to members from accommodation providers, visitor attractions and event venues, and there are currently 43 conference and event venues that have been certified or pending to be awarded.
Originally developed in partnership with Visit Scotland, it is now the only certification scheme validated by Visit Britain, through the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT).
Businesses opting to join Green Tourism are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more. Those businesses that meet the required standard, receive a Bronze, Silver, or Gold award based on their level of achievement. The current network of members is comprised of a wide range of business types, including accommodation providers, visitor attractions, corporate offices and others.

Choose Your Venue is the online preferred partner for the Green Business Tourism Scheme (GTBS), providing a huge selection of green venues available throughout the UK including conference venues, activity centers, hotels and corporate event venues available for your green event. We are pleased to include contact details and further information on the various venues along with the appropriate green accreditation that has been achieved by each venue.
