Richard Fine

I have been involved in the plastic packaging industry from an early age and worked in the family plastic molding business from 1989. I moved to Australia in 2003 where I became acutely aware of the significant amount of plastic pollution washing up on the countries beautiful beaches and it was then that I decided that I would use my knowledge and experience to contribute to solving the problem. I founded BioPak in 2006 and 12 years later BioPak Australia and New Zealand is a certified B Corp and the leading supplier of compostable single-use food service disposable packaging made from rapidly renewable sustainably sourced materials. We have shifted an entire industry and demonstrated that the packaging industry can be part of the global transition towards a circular economy.

I am a founding member of the Australasian Bioplastics association and a member of the marketing committee. I am actively involved in a number of industry working groups both in Australia and New Zealand currently defining policy around compostable packaging. I am passionate about sustainability and my mission is to promote and drive the adoption of compostable single-use disposable packaging.
